Our Story
Founded in 2011, Pinnacle Contracting Services LLC began with a clear mission: to serve North Carolina’s Triad region with unmatched quality and reliability in the Residential and Multi-Family Construction markets. Starting with just two dedicated crews, our commitment to excellence and strong relationships with clients quickly established Pinnacle as a trusted name in construction.
Our reach grew steadily. By 2013, we had extended our operations to Raleigh and Charlotte, forming partnerships with major national builders and laying the groundwork for sustained growth. These relationships reinforced our reputation for quality, helping us evolve into a recognized leader in the industry.
In 2022, we expanded our capabilities by adding Masonry, Myrtle Beach, and Multi-Family divisions, allowing us to offer specialized expertise in these critical areas. This strategic growth set the stage for further service expansion, and in 2023, we introduced our Landscaping division, rounding out our service portfolio and adding even more value to our clients’ projects.
Most recently, in 2024, we extended our footprint into Greenville, South Carolina, strengthening our presence in the Southeast. As we continue to grow, Pinnacle remains dedicated to providing our clients with the highest standards in construction and specialty contracting services.

Our Leaders
Bernie Walraven
Founder / President
Bernie Walraven is the founder and president of Pinnacle and has 17+ years of concrete experience servicing homebuilders and developers across the Carolinas. Prior to his professional career, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Michigan State University. Mr. Walraven is a hands-on leader who motivates his employees through action. He champions a proven success in creating a company culture that nurtures growth, driving individuals, and highlight successful teams. Mr. Walraven is extremely passionate about quality and customer service and has solidified these values throughout the organization which has played a key role In the Company's position as the industry leader. Mr. Walraven is a believer that good people make great things happen and has worked hard to build a culture of “good people” who “get it done”.
Clay Phillips
Co-Founder / VP of Sales
Clay Phillips brings a wealth of experience to the Pinnacle team with over 25+ years of concrete and construction experience in the Carolinas. Prior to Pinnacle, Mr. Phillips founded Triad Construction Services, a concrete contractor providing a similar suite of concrete services in 2000, growing it to $18 million in revenue and 75 employees. Mr. Phillips joined Pinnacle in July 2012 to assist the platform in the buildout of the newly formed Raleigh Division. Leveraging his relationships and experience, Mr. Phillips went on to be the key leader in the buildout of the Charlotte and Wilmington divisions as well. Mr. Phillips is extremely customer centric and takes pride in maintaining customer satisfaction. As a self-motivated leader, Mr. Phillips leads the Company’s managers by example and is a key piece in the customer and quality first culture at Pinnacle.
Mike Demoret
VP of Operations
Mike Demoret is Pinnacles VP of operations and brings 17+ years of operations and leadership experience to Pinnacle. Mr. Demoret earned a Bachelor’s in Finance and Banking from Appalachian State University. Prior to joining Pinnacle Mr. Demoret most notably worked for Thomas Concrete where he was responsible for Commercial sales across eight of the company's concrete plants. Mr. Demoret joined Pinnacle in July 2013 and took over the responsibilities of developing the Raleigh market where he had oversight of the operations component of the business. Mr. Demoret was promoted to VP of operations in 2021 to oversee all divisional operations.
Rick Wotring
Chief Financial Officer
Rick Wotring is a highly experienced finance and accounting professional with over 25+ years of experience achieving strategic and corporate goals. Mr. Wotring joined Pinnacle as the CFO in April 2021 prior to which he most notably held the title as CFO/Owner for Oakhurst Textiles for 17+ years. Most recently, Mr. Wotring served as a financial leader within a large private equity owned construction firm where he managed regional financial profitability and new acquisition integrations. Mr. Wotring is a self motivated and organized leader with extensive experience in developing, implementing, and managing complex projects within time and budgetary constraints while coaching individuals to success. Mr. Wotring holds CPA as well as CGMA licenses and earned his Bachelor’s of Accounting at the University of Florida.
Josh Pearce
Operations Manager
Josh Pearce is a dedicated leader at Pinnacle Contracting Services, bringing with him over a decade of experience and a strong foundation in teamwork and service. A former Army Medic who served in Iraq from 2009 to 2010, Josh transitioned into construction management in 2017, joining Pinnacle as a Project Manager in Greensboro. His exemplary work earned him a promotion to Greensboro East Division Manager in 2018, and in 2023, he was elevated to the role of Operations Manager, overseeing company-wide operations. Josh’s leadership and commitment to excellence have been key drivers in Pinnacle’s continued growth and success.
Scott Showerman
Director of Sales & Business Development
Scott Showerman joined Pinnacle in 2023 as a seasoned sales and business development professional, bringing over 25 years of experience in the construction and construction materials industry. He has held leadership roles in concrete placement, estimating, project management, and operations across ready-mix concrete, masonry, and cement. Prior to joining Pinnacle, Scotty had a successful career at Cemex, where he served as VP Commercial for the South Atlantic region, overseeing cement sales of 3 million tons annually. Scotty earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is passionate about building strong teams and delivering results through a focus on quality and customer service.
